Recinos Garners A-10 Midfielder Of The Year Award To Highlight Postseason Accolades

Recinos and Kane collect All-Conference honors, while Curry adds an All-Academic laurel.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Junior Bella Recinos was named the Atlantic 10 Midfielder of the Year to headline a total of four postseason awards for the University of Massachusetts women's soccer team, the league announced on Thursday afternoon. Recinos becomes the second Minutewomen in program history to garner the Midfielder of the Year accolade and the 11th player overall to be named the offensive, defensive, midfielder or rookie of the year for the A-10. Recinos is also the third member of the program to combine for four major awards with Jason Dowiak at the helm.
In addition, Recinos, a midfielder, was also tabbed to the league's All-Conference First Team for the first time in her career. Graduate student defender Fiona Kane joined Recinos on the All-Conference First Team, picking up the honor for the first time in her collegiate career. Senior midfielder Ella Curry earned a spot on the All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year and second time in her career.
Recinos started in 17 of 18 games for the Minutewomen this season, accumulating 1,247 minutes on the pitch. She led the team in points, goals and assists, with 19, seven and five, respectively, while also registering a team-high 35 shots, including a team-best 20 shots on goal. The Winter Park, Florida, native, tallied a team-leading four game-winning goals on the year, tying for second in the A-10 and 26th in the nation. Her 19 points ranked third in the conference, with her seven goals tying her for third in the league. Recinos recorded a career-high four points with one goal and a career-best matching two assists, against Loyola Chicago (10/1) to be selected as the A-10 Offensive Player of the Week. Her lone honor of the season marked the first weekly award of her career. She also dished out two assists in the 5-0 shutout victory at Davidson (9/24).
Named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week once this season, Kane started in every contest for Massachusetts this season, averaging over 1,554 minutes. She totaled two points on the year, notching the first only goal of her career on a penalty kick in the 5-0 win at Davidson (9/24). The Easton, Massachusetts, native, took four shots, placing two on target, and played a key role in the Minutewomen's nine shutouts on the season.
Additionally, Kane became the program's all-time leader in minutes with 8,025, all-time leader in games played with 89, and all-time leader in games started with 89, to finish out her career with the Minutewomen.
Curry, competed in 18 games for UMass, getting the start in 17, totaling 1,214 minutes on the field. She recorded four points on four assists, notching the first assist of her collegiate career at UMass Lowell (8/24), and tallied 18 shots with seven on goal. The Collegeville, Pennsylvania, native, is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
