Trio Named UMass Student-Athletes Of The Week

Michael Hrabel, Bella Recinos and Alec Hughes earn the weekly accolade.
AMHERST, Mass. –Michael Hrabel of hockey, Bella Recinos of women's soccer and Alec Hughes of men's soccer were named the UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by UMassFive College Credit Union. The trio will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon at Berkshire Dining Commons.
Hrabal started both games in net for the Minutemen and posted a 1.51 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage with two wins on the weekend. The Prague, Czechia, native made 28 saves on Friday and followed up by stopping all 32 he faced on Saturday in his first career shutout.
Recinos and the Minutewomen went 2-0 on the week after defeating both Saint Joseph's, 2-0, and Fordham, 2-0. Recinos accumulated 114 minutes of playing time, while registering two goals for a total of four points. Recinos goal against Saint Joseph's and at Fordham were both game-winners. She also recorded five shots on the week, with three on target.
Hughes scored a pair of second half goals to lift the Minutemen over the first place Davidson Wildcats on Saturday. Hughes put UMass up 2-1 in the 79th minute and added the exclamation mark in the 85th. The two-goal performance was his ninth multi goal game and fourth this year. He also moved into a tie for 5th all-time in career goals at UMass with 33.
