The Minutemen and Minutewomen will send swimmers to Bryant, while divers will compete at home in the squad's first meet of 2023.

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts swimming and diving team will split their squad on Saturday as they take on the Bryant Bulldogs. The diving events, set to kick off at 11 a.m., will occur at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool, while swimming events, scheduled for 1 p.m., will take place at Bryant's Chace Athletic Center Pool.

Home Sweet Home
The Minutemen and Minutewomen competed in their first home meet of the season on December 3, when the women's team bested both Binghamton and Vermont, while the men's team fell to Binghamton. The squad is set to host Fordham in the final home meet of the season on Jan. 28.

In The Record Books
Freshman Andrew Bell set two top-ten all-time scores in program history against Binghamton, posting a 324.65 (third best all-time) in the 1m dive and a 345.40 (fifth-best all-time) in the 3m dive. On the women's side, the women's 200-yard Medley Relay team of Megan Mitchell, Maggie Desmond, Summer Pierce, and Caroline Mahoney set a pool record with a time of 1:45.82. Megan Mitchell set another pool record that day, swimming 2:02.78 to first in the 200-yard backstroke. Additionally, Beatriz Olivieri finished the 200-yard butterfly in 2:04.65, good for seventh-best all-time.

Rookie Of The Week
Freshman Andrew Bell was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on December 6 after his record-breaking performances in the 1m and 3m dives in the team's dual meet against Binghamton. 

On The Podium
Against Binghamton and Vermont, the women swept the podium for the 50-yard freestyle, with Caroline Mahoney winning the event in 24.13 seconds, while teammates Olivieri (10:38.37) and Bella Snyder (10:45.26) followed. Megan Mitchell was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke (56.43) and Maggie Desmond won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.90). 

For the men, against Binghamton, Noah Witt won the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.04) with teammate Eric Eastham following in second (1:55.67). The Minutemen took second and third in the 100-yard backstroke, with Witt swimming a time of 51.67 seconds and Beau Bengston swimming a 52.82, as well as in the 200-yard butterfly, with Jamie MacDonald (1:54.63) taking second and Jake Bailey (1:56.91) claiming third.

Looking Ahead
The Minutemen and Minutewomen are set to head to Hanover, N.H. on Jan. 20-21 for the Tate Ramsden Invitational at Dartmouth. Then, the squad is scheduled to host Fordham at home on Jan. 28 to conclude the regular season slate.
