Massachusetts Swim And Dive Sets Three Top-Ten All-Time Marks On Day Two Of Tate Ramsden Invitational

The Minutewomen and Minutewomen recorded seven first-place finishes on Saturday.

HANOVER, N.H. - The University of Massachusetts men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished out the two-day Tate Ramsden Invitational on Saturday, setting three top-ten all-time marks.

On The Podium
For the Minutewomen, Summer Pierce took third place in the 400-yard IM in 4:40.93, as well as second place in the 100-yard freestyle in 55.02 seconds. Beatriz Oliveri clocked in a 1:55.85 in the 200-yard freestyle, good for third place in the event, in addition to a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.88). The 200-yard medley relay team of Megan Mitchell, Maggie Desmond, Pierce, and Caroline Mahoney recorded a time of 1:47.08 on the day, good for third place. Olivia Mozoki swam to second place in the 1650-yard freestyle in 18:06.88, as well as in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:29.61. In the 100-yard freestyle, Megan Mitchell swam to third in 55.42 seconds. Desmond also recorded a third-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:31.08. The 400-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Bri Williams, Kirsten Ardis, Dylan Moulton, and Ashley Calderon took third place in the event, clocking a time of 3:42.23.

For the Minutemen, Jake Bailey recorded a 50.73 second finish in the 100-yard butterfly to take second place in the event, as well as a time of 17:19.34 in the 1650-yard freestyle, good for third place. Sam Haddad recorded two second-place finishes on the day, swimming the 400-yard IM in 4:14.15 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:09.31. Nadav Granot followed Haddad in third place in the 400-yard IM, clocking a 4:18.89 time. In the 100-yard backstroke, Jamie MacDonald was the runner-up, swimming the event in 52.59 seconds. Beau Bengston followed MacDonald in the event, taking third in 53.08 seconds. The 200-yard medley relay team of Noah Witt, Jack Artis, Bailey, and Sammy Quigg finished the event in 1:35.01, good for second place. Witt finished in third place in the 200-yard backstroke as well, recording a time of 1:55.65. The 400-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Emerson Kiefer, Juan Montori, Eric Eastham, and Quigg took third place in the event with a time of 3:09.74.

Top Finishes
The Minutewomen saw four first-place finishes on Saturday. Emma Petrovich captured first place in the 1-meter dive, recording a score of 284.75. Moulton swam the 100-yard freestyle in 54.92 to win the event. Anna Kwon secured first place in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:04.64, bettering her No. 7 all-time mark in the event. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Pierce, Olivieri, Desmond, and Mahoney took first in 3:32.08.

The Minutemen recorded three top finishes, two of which entered the record books. Andrew Bell swept the men's diving events on the weekend with his 3-meter dive win, recording a score of 359.65. This score makes Bell No. 2 all-time in program history in the event. Wilson Dubois recorded a No. 10 all-time performance in the 1650-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 15:49.77, good for first place in the event.

Team Results
The Minutemen fell to Dartmouth, 229 to 103. The Minutewomen bested Dartmouth, 192 to 136, but fell to Northeastern, 191 to 130.

Next Up
Massachusetts swim and dive will head home for the final meet of the regular season against Fordham on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m.
