Minutewomen Shutout Dukes At Rudd Field, 1-0

Olivia Gouldsbury provided the game’s lone goal in the 38th-minute while Bella Mendoza posted nine saves.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 shutout win over Duquesne on Thursday afternoon at Rudd Field. Olivia Gouldsbury put home the game's lone goal for the Minutewomen (3-5-5 Overall, 2-1-2 Atlantic 10) in the 38th-minute while Bella Mendoza came up with a season-high nine saves in the win.
Mendoza stopped seven of her nine shots in the final 45 minutes, including six saves over the last 25 minutes of action as the Dukes made a late push for the equalizer. Duquesne put seven of their 10 shots in the second half on target after attempting just three shots in the opening frame.
The Minutewomen controlled the bulk of the possession in the first half, attempting 10 of their 16 shots in the opening 45 minutes as they came up with the game's lone goal. Grace Pinkus assisted on Gouldsbury's goal, sending a cross from the right side towards Gouldsbury, who slotted home a right-footed shot from 10 yards out for her second goal of the season.
Lauren Bonavita attempted a team-high five shots while Ashley Lamond and Bella Recinos added four and three, respectively.
UMass continues Atlantic 10 play this weekend when it travels to St. Bonaventure to take on the Bonnies on Sunday at 1 p.m.
