Massachusetts Women’s Soccer Adds Four Newcomers For 2022

Bianca Cardano, Jessica Collantes, Sarah Flanagan, and Nia Hislop join the Minutewomen in the fall.

AMHERST, Mass. The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team announced four additions to the roster for the 2022 season. Three athletes from Massachusetts join the squad in Bianca Cardano, Sarah Flanagan, and Nia Hislop while Jess Collantes joins the Minutewomen from Canada.
 
Cardano (Monson, Mass.) comes to Amherst by way of Minnechaug Regional High School, where she was a three-year varsity letterwinner for Falcons. The defender played club soccer for NEFC West Elite and helped the squad to a 2019 US Club Soccer NPL National Cup Championship. She also led NEFC West Elite to both the 2018 and 2019 Massachusetts US Club State Cup Supergroup Championship.
 
Collantes (Toronto, Canada) played for the North Toronto Soccer Club and helped the team to the finals of both the Charity Shields and London Games. The midfielder also guided her club squad to second place in the Ontario Provincial Development League (OPDL). Collantes earned invites to the Ontario Provincial Program from 2015 to 2018 and was part of the Ontario Provincial Projects for the Ontario Soccer Association in 2019.
 
Flanagan (Milford, Mass.) joins the Minutewomen after playing club soccer for NEFC GA, where she helped the squad to a National Cup Championship in 2017. The defender was part of teams that made it to the DA Nationals twice, including a quarterfinals appearance in 2019, while guiding the team to the GA Nationals in 2021. Flanagan was also a captain for the track and field team at Milford and was a league all-star, Metro West All-Star. She qualified for both the New Balance Outdoor and Indoor Nationals in 2019 and 2020.
 
Hislop (Concord, Mass.) comes to UMass from Concord Carlisle Regional, where she was tabbed an all-state and all-New England selection two years in a row. The defender also earned First-Team DCL All-Star and First-Team Eastern-Massachusetts All-Star honors and helped her team to a third-place finish in the DCL. Hislop played club soccer with FC Stars ECNL.
 
The Minutewomen open the 2022 regular season campaign on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. on Rudd Field against Albany.
