Massachusetts Hockey Announces Schedule For 2022-23

The Minutemen will open the season at AIC on October 8, will host 2022 National Champion Denver for the opening weekend of their home slate on October 14-15.
AMHERST, Mass.– A meeting between the last two national champions, a return trip to the Friendship Four and the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off in Milwaukee, Wisconsin are among the highlights of the 2022-23 Massachusetts hockey schedule, which was announced on Thursday. The 2022 Hockey East Champion Minutemen will begin their seventh season under head coach Greg Carvel on Saturday, October 8, at AIC in Springfield.

From there, Massachusetts will open a five-game homestand, starting with a pair against 2022 NCAA Champion Denver at the Mullins Center on Oct. 14 and 15. UMass will then host Union for two on Oct. 21 and 22 before kicking off Hockey East play vs. Merrimack in Amherst on Friday, Oct. 28, before traveling to face the Warriors in North Andover on Oct. 29.

Massachusetts will open November with a home-and-home against Providence, beginning in Providence on Nov. 4, followed by a meeting with the Friars on Nov. 5 at the Mullins Center. On Nov. 18, the Minutemen will travel to Durham to face New Hampshire before heading overseas to Belfast, Northern Ireland for the Friendship Four on Nov. 25-26. UMass will open the tournament with a Hockey East matchup against UMass Lowell and then face either Quinnipiac or Dartmouth in the consolation/championship round.

The Minutemen will play its final two home games of the calendar year on Saturday, Dec. 3, and Thursday, Dec. 8, against league foes UMass Lowell and Merrimack before breaking for final exams.

UMass will return from its break and head to the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Dec. 28-29 where the Minutemen will be joined by Clarkson, Lake Superior and Wisconsin.

Massachusetts will open the New Year at the Mullins Center with its final non-league matchup of the regular season, hosting Brown on Tuesday, Jan. 3. The Minutemen will then resume Hockey East action against Boston College on Jan. 7 and play at Boston University on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

New Hampshire will come to Amherst on Sunday, Jan. 15, while UConn visits Mullins on Friday, Jan. 20 for the front end of the Minutemen's home-and-home against the Huskies, which will conclude in Connecticut on Jan. 21. Massachusetts will close out the month with its third meeting with UMass Lowell of the season in Lowell on Friday, Jan. 27.

The Minutemen will play their second straight single game weekend on Friday, Feb. 3, when the squad will make a road trip to Providence. UMass will then host Vermont for two on Feb. 10 and 11 before heading to a stretch of playing four of its final six contests of the regular season on the road.

Massachusetts will be at Boston College on Friday, Feb. 17 before hosting the Eagles on Saturday, Feb. 18. UMass will face Northeastern in its home regular season finale on Friday, Feb. 24 and will travel to Matthews Arena for its second meeting with the Huskies on Saturday, Feb. 25.

The Minutemen will close out the regular season on March 3-4 with a pair of games against Maine in Orono.

A reminder to all 2021-22 UMass hockey season ticket holders, the renewal period for 2022-23 season tickets is now open. Season ticket packages start at $272 and include one ticket to each of the Minutemen's 16 regular season home games as well as a complementary ticket to a Hockey East playoff matchup, should UMass host.
