Baseball Falls In Regular Season Finale, 6-0, To George Washington

Wilde totals two hits for the Minutemen in the final contest of the 2022 season.
ARLINGTON, Va. – University of Massachusetts baseball finished the 2022 season with a 6-0 loss to George Washington University at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park on Saturday morning.
UMass fell to 22-26-1 overall on the season and 8-16 in the Atlantic 10, while George Washington improved to 22-30 overall and 10-14 in conference play.
Aidan Wilde tallied a team-high two hits, followed by Kevin Skagerlind, Will MacLean and Michael Rounds with one apiece. Wilde and Steve Luttazi also added a walk to the ledger on the day.
A two-run single gave George Washington an early lead in the second inning, before a solo home run pulled the Colonials ahead 3-0 in the fifth frame. George Washington tacked on three more runs in the eighth to add to its lead and bring the contest to its final score of 6-0.
Kevin Down (6-5) had the loss for the Minutemen, giving up three runs on eight hits, walking one and dealing four strikeouts 6.1 innings of work. Logan Koester (3-2) secured the win for the Colonials, tossing 7.1 innings, and allowing no runs on three hits, walking two and striking out four. Trevor Kuncl earned his fifth save of the season, pitching 1.2 frames, giving up two hits and striking out only one batter.
