Massachusetts Baseball Tabbed Third In NEIBA Division I Coaches Poll

The Minutemen receive 24 points to land on the week five list.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts baseball team has been ranked third on the New England Division I College Baseball Coaches Poll, as announced by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA). The Minutemen land on the list for the second consecutive week and received 24 points in the week five poll.
 
UMass holds an overall record of 17-13-1 and a 6-3 record in the Atlantic 10. Massachusetts defeated Sacred Heart, 7-4, on Wednesday to get back in the win column. Will MacLean and Steve Luttazi aided UMass in the triumph with one home run apiece, while Nolan Tichy contributed a two-run triple.
 
In the Division I poll, No. 15 UConn sits at the top after receiving 10 first-place votes and 48 points, as Fairfield ranks second with 30 points. Massachusetts is followed by Northeastern (22 pts) and Dartmouth College (14 pts). Central Connecticut State and Maine are also receiving votes.
 
The Minutemen travel to Dayton, Ohio, for a three-game A-10 series with Dayton on Friday, April 22, through Sunday, April 24. Friday's contest is slated for a 3 p.m. start, while Saturday's matchup will begin at 1 p.m. The series finale on Sunday is set for 12 p.m.
