UMass Women’s Track & Field Leads Field At Home Meet

The Minutewomen finished first out of five teams at the UMass Track & Field Complex with a score of 205.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's track & field won 10 events en route to a first-place team finish at its home meet on Saturday at the UMass Track & Field complex on Saturday. The Minutewomen led the five-team field with a score of 205, followed by Boston University (112), WPI (91), Vermont (74) and Hartford (51).
Cheyenne Figueroa took first in hammer throw with a toss of 180 feet. Voski Armenakyan placed third at 171 feet, 1 inch, to improve to third all-time in the UMass record book, while Danielle Notarfrancesco claimed fifth (141'5"). Jessica Reis and Gabriella Pagnini took sixth and eighth as UMass' fourth and fifth scorers in the event with marks of 141 feet, 5 inches and 132 feet, 4 inches, respectively.
Notarfrancesco led the field in shot put at 48 feet, 8 inches and Pagnini was fifth with her mark of 40 feet, 2.75 inches. In discus, Figueroa placed third (139'11"), Pagnini fifth (130'6") and Reis eighth (108'3").
Anna Cozzolino earned the top spot in javelin at 137 feet, 4 inches and Aaliyah Alleyne came in fifth (116'9").
Five Minutewomen scored in triple jump, led by Emily McDonald in first with a leap of 37 feet, 5.25 inches. Tyler Berry placed fourth (36'6.25") followed by Jessica Dronzek (fifth, 34'5.5") and Tiarra Deveaux (sixth, 34'4.25"), while Jessica Green was eight (34'3.5"). In long jump, McDonald landed third (18'1.5"), Deveaux was sixth (17'9.5") and Berry was seventh (17'2").
Lea Doerries won high jump with a height of 5 feet, 5.25 inches and Courtney Rowland took second at the same height. Elizabeth Lodge and Tessa Bostwick both cleared 5 feet, 1.25 inches to place fifth.
On the track, Sadai Headley-Mawasi was victorious in 400 meter dash, clocking in at 56.99 seconds and Rachel LaBonte was eighth (1:04.62). Colette O'Leary came in first in 800 meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 14.93 seconds, while Samantha Schwers was third (2:16.89), Eugenia Fairhurst fourth (2:17.60) and Jaden Young eighth (2:20.91).
Sarah Conant, Grace Phair and Rebekah James crossed together in second, third and fourth in 1,500 meter run, posting times of 4:49.11, 4:50.11 and 4:50.95, respectively.
In 100 meter dash, Faith Richardson placed third in 12.32 seconds, Abby Collins came in fifth at 12.45 seconds and Jordan Lafave took sixth in 12.46 seconds.
Lillian Kirry won 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.84 seconds and Elizabeth Lee was the runner-up at 15.18 seconds. In 400 meter hurdles, Alexandra Gonet claimed second (1:05.55) and Ecaterina Rojco was third (1:06.05).
UMass earned the top spot in both relays. Grace Poku, Caroline Schissel, Collins and Richardson ran 48.28 in the 4x100 and Sarah Witt, Daniella Pierre, Elizabeth Hoenes and Headley-Mawasi combined for a time of 3 minutes, 52.77 seconds in the 4x400.
The Minutewomen will next travel to the Virginia Challenge (April 22-23) and the Holy Cross Invitational (April 23).
