Trio Named UMass Student-Athletes of the Week

Kevin Skagerlind of baseball, Lillian Kirry of women’s track & field and Kendra Harbinger of women’s lacrosse share the honor.
AMHERST, Mass. – Sophomore Kevin Skagerlind of baseball, sophomore Lillian Kirry of women's track and field and graduate student Kendra Harbinger of women's lacrosse tabbed the UMass Student-Athletes of the Week honor, presented by UMassFive.
Skagerlind posted a .444 batting average, a .500 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage across UMass' 4-0 week, including its 3-0 week in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Holden, Massachusetts, native registered eight hits in 18 at bats, five runs, three RBI, one double, one long ball and three stolen bases. In the Opening Round of the Beanpot at Harvard, the sophomore went 3-for-5, including a home run, while adding one RBI. In the first game on Friday against Fordham, he had three hits in four at bats, one double, a run and two RBI. In the first game of Sunday's doubleheader versus Fordham, Skagerlind tallied two hits and two runs, while accumulating two stolen bases. In the series finale with Fordham, he added a run. In the field, Skagerlind recorded 10 putouts in the week, including four in game one against Fordham.
Kirry became the first student-athlete in program history to go sub-1 minute in 400 meter hurdles, setting a new program record with a time of 59.48 to win the event at the Friar Invitational. She ran on the 4x100m relay that claimed second at the Ocean State Invitational in 47.92 seconds, while also scoring in the 200 meter dash at the Ocean State Invitational, claiming fourth in 25.39 seconds.
Harbinger recorded three goals and one assist in each contest, to lead the Minutewomen as they took victories over George Washington and No. 19 Richmond, solidifying their spot atop the A-10.
