UMass Men’s Cross Country Wraps Up 2022 Season At NCAA Regional Championships

The Minutemen took 17th out of 33 schools in the Northeast.

BRONX, N.Y. – University of Massachusetts men's cross country concluded its 2022 season on Friday, competing in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. The Minutemen placed 17th out of 33 school with a score of 540, while Syracuse (65), Harvard (89) and Cornell (135) comprised the top-three in the team standings.

THE UMASS TOP-FIVE
  • Surafel Mengist was the top finisher for the Minutemen in 88th overall, clocking in at 31:27.6 on the 10K course.
  • Benjamin Burgess followed in 109th overall as UMass' No. 2 runner, posting a time of 31:52.4
  • Nicholas Valianti was the third to cross for the Minutemen in 110th in the field of 240 (31:52.6).
  • Michael Norberg was fourth for UMass and 116th overall (31:57.6).
  • Loeden Rodrigues capped the scoring for the Minutemen in 121st with a time of 32:01.3.
