Approaching 500
Rich Kelly is six assists away from reaching 500 assists for his career. The guard would become just the 11th active player in Division I with more than 1,500 career points and 500 or more career assists. Kelly currently ranked 28th nationally among active players in career assists with 494 and ranks 29th in 3-pointers made with 261.
From Range
The Minutemen rank fifth nationally in 3-point field goal percentage as a team at just under 41-percent and rank 14th in the country and atop the Atlantic 10 in 3-point field goals per game with 10.5. UMass has four active players shooting 40-percent or better from behind the arc, led by Rich Kelly (.500) and C.J. Kelly (.457).
High Powered Offense
UMass ranks second in the Atlantic 10 and 46th in Division I in scoring offense with 78.6 points per game. The Minutemen have eclipsed 70 points in 13-of-14 games this season and have scored 80 or more in six of those contests.
Steady's First UMass Start
Michael Steadman scored 13 points and added six boards in his first UMass start on Saturday against Duquesne. Steadman is averaging 7.6 points and 4.0 rebounds per game since returning from injury on Nov. 24 against UMass Lowell. The forward scored a season-high 20 points on Dec. 19 against Fairfield and is averaging 13.7 points per game over his last three contests.
They're Free, Right?
UMass shot 19-of-20 (.950) from the line on Saturday against Duquesne to mark the second time this season that the team has shot better than 90-percent from the line with a minimum 10 attempts. The Minutemen also shot 93-percent (26-of-28) from the line in the win over UNCG, including 24-of-24 in the second half in overtime. The performance marked the first time since Jan. 30, 2018 that a UMass team shot over 90-percent from the line with at least 10 attempts.
Sharpshooting Trio
The Minutemen have three players in the top-10 of the Atlantic 10 in 3-point field goal percentage, including two in the top six in the league. Rich Kelly ranks third in the A-10 at .500 while C.J. Kelly (.457) and Noah Fernandes (.434) rank sixth and ninth respectively. UMass is the only team with at least three players inside the top-10 in the category.
