AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts head men's basketball coach Frank Martin announced on Monday the addition of T.J. Knight as Director of Scouting & Video Operations. Knight joins the Minutemen after spending the past six seasons on the staff at the University of South Carolina Aiken, most recently serving as associate head coach.

"Excited to add TJ Knight to our staff as our video coordinator," said Martin. "TJ earned his way through the business, starting as as volunteer and staying at the same place and doing every possible job imaginable until he became the associate head coach for one of the top Division II programs in the country."

Knight was promoted to associate head coach in August 2024 after four seasons as an assistant coach with the Pacers. During his time at USC Aiken, he helped the program compile a 101-53 record over five seasons, including the 2024-25 Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship, back-to-back PBC regular season titles in 2022-23 and 2023-24 and three consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearances. The Pacers also produced 12 All-Peach Belt Conference selections during Knight's tenure, including four first-team, four second-team and four third-team honorees, along with multiple D2CCA All-Region and NABC All-District selections.

Before joining the USC Aiken coaching staff, Knight served as a student assistant at Lander University from December 2019 through March 2020 after playing for the Bearcats from 2016-19. As a player, Knight was a team captain and helped Lander capture the 2020 Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship. He was also a two-time member of the PBC Academic Team and earned Dean's List honors three times.

A native of South Carolina, Knight earned his bachelor's degree in Financial Services from Lander University in 2020.

"[UMass is] an exciting opportunity to work with a tremendous staff," said Knight. "It starts with Frank and moves down to all the other assistants. The amount of knowledge and opportunity to learn and be part of something bigger than myself was a great opportunity I couldn't pass up."

The Minutemen are set for a home exhibition this coming Sunday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. against the University of Rhode Island. UMass' season opener is set for Monday, Nov. 2 at defending Sun Belt Champion Troy.
