UMass Fights Back To Down Albany, 2-1

ALBANY – For the first time since 2013, the Massachusetts field hockey team is 4-0 to start the season. After going down 1-0 in the first quarter at Albany, the Minutewomen scored the game's final two goals to knock off the Great Danes on Sunday on Alumni Turf, 2-1.
Albany came out firing, outshooting the Minutewomen 7-3 (4-2 shots on goal), and taking a 1-0 lead 8:39 into the contest when Charlotte Triggs knocked home a rebound for her first goal of the season.
Massachusetts regrouped in the second quarter, though, maintaining possession throughout the quarter and leveling the game at one 3:53 in when Mus Defauwes buried her first of the year.
After the Great Danes controlled the play for most of the third quarter, UMass broke through with 2:08 to go when Johnson netted her second of the year to give the Minutewomen their first lead of the day, a lead they would hold over the final 15 minutes of play.
The Minutewomen will be back in action next weekend when they travel to College Park, Md. to take on No. 9 Maryland and American, beginning Friday against the Terrapins at 4 p.m.
