Minutewomen Cap Final MAC Road Trip With 3-0 Win Over App State

BOONE, N.C. -- No. 17 Massachusetts (13-2, 6-1 MAC) claimed its sixth Mid-American victory of the season, defeating Appalachian State (11-4, 5-2) 3-0 on Sunday at the Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field Hockey Complex. The Minutewomen finished their two-game road swing with a pair of victories, earning their seventh shutout of the season.
Massachusetts secured its first victory over the Mountaineers in the inaugural meeting between the two programs.
Senior Izzy Larimore capped the matchup with her first career goal, tipping a centering pass from Fiene Jenniskens past the keeper late in the fourth quarter of play. Lina Kroeger and Mia Smith each added a goal of their own, both converting off penalty corners in the second quarter. The goals marked the fourth and second of the season for Kroeger and Smith.
The Minutewomen held App State to one shot in the matchup and not a single on goal. Myrte van Herwijnen and the back line conceded only a singular penalty corner on the afternoon.
