Morgan Royer joins the softball coaching staff after five seasons at Marist.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Head Softball Coach Danielle Henderson announced the addition of Morgan Royer to the coaching staff on Monday afternoon. Royer joins the Minutewomen from Marist, where she helped coach the Red Foxes to a MAAC regular season championship in 2019.
"I can't thank Danielle enough for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of her staff," said Royer. "UMass has such an amazing softball history that I am honored to help in its winning culture. I am looking forward to being back in the Atlantic 10 Conference and can't wait to get the season rolling."
In her five seasons at Marist, Royer coached two MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and two MAAC Rookie of the Year honorees in addition to multiple all-conference and four NFCA First-Team All-Region selections. During her first season in 2017, the Red Foxes finished with a 37-22 record to mark the second-most wins in a single season in program history before winning 35 games in 2019 on the way to a MAAC Championship game appearance. Royer also served as an assistant coach at Penn and helped the Quakers to a 45-41 record during her tenure with an Ivy League Championship Series appearance in 2015.
"Morgan is a great addition to our staff," said Henderson. "She has played in the Atlantic 10 and will bring a lot of experience and enthusiasm to our team."
The Folsom, N.J. native was a four-year letterwinner at Saint Joseph's, where she played in 145 career games and made 124 starts for the Hawks.
