Game 1
La Salle 8, Massachusetts 5
Four Minutemen had two hits apiece and the squad pounded out 12 total, but errors cost the Minutemen as La Salle plated two runs on miscues before ultimately pulling ahead for good in the sixth inning. Kevin Skagerlind contributed two RBI in the setback via a second-inning sac fly as well as a single in the fifth.
UMass eliminated an early 2-0 deficit in the second inning, using Skagerlind's sacrifice followed up by a Chris Pearsons single that scored Mike Gervasi and Michael Rounds, respectively. La Salle pulled back in front, 4-2, in the fifth before a three-spot for the Minutemen gave the home side the lead in the bottom of the frame. Collin Shapiro came across on a Dylan Judd grounder, then Gervasi knocked in Eddy Hart with the tying run with a single. Skagerlind then popped a single to right center scoring Judd and giving Massachusetts the lead, but the Explorers countered with two apiece in the sixth and ninth innings.
Colin Scanlon earned the win for La Salle and Colin Kennedy closed the book with a two-inning save. Jack Steele took the loss for the Minutemen.
Game 2
La Salle 3, Massachusetts 0 (7 inn.)
Jack Cucinotta had an RBI single in the third inning and La Salle added two more later by way of the sac fly to bring the game to its final score. Massachusetts was held to just two hits in the game, which came via singles off the bats of Shapiro and Judd.
Both starting pitchers went the distance in this one, as La Salle's Frank Elissalt picked up the win and southpaw Daniel Livnat took the tough loss for UMass.
