UMass kicks off the season on Feb. 14 against Connecticut

AMHERST, Mass. – With the start of the season less than two weeks away, the Massachusetts women's soccer team has been picked to finish third in the Atlantic 10 in the conference's preseason coaches' poll released Wednesday.

The Minutewomen earned 155 points in the poll, trailing only defending conference champion Saint Louis (194 points, 12 first place votes) and George Washington (171 points, one first place vote).

Behind UMass is Dayton (146 points), VCU (135 points, one first place vote) and La Salle (124 points) in the four through six slots, while Saint Joseph's (109), George Mason (92), Duquesne (91), Fordham (79), Davidson (62), Richmond (57), St. Bonaventure (28) and Rhode Island (27) rounded out the poll.

Massachusetts will take the field for the first time on February 14 when the Minutewomen host Connecticut at 2 p.m. Due to the ever-evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, game dates, times and opponents are subject to change. Any updates to the schedule will be announced on UMassAthletics.com as well as via the official UMass women's soccer social media accounts.

In accordance with UMass' COVID-19 protocols, all home games will be closed to spectators this season. The decision was made following consultation with local public health and university officials and in accordance with the Governor's Executive Order prohibiting large capacity venues from opening to the public.
