AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's basketball team hits the road for its first game away from the Mullins Center as they head to New Haven, Conn. tomorrow for a matchup at Yale at 8 p.m. on ESPN+. The Minutemen head into tomorrow's game off a 77-60 win over UMBC on Tuesday led by 16 points and seven rebounds each from Trent Buttrick and T.J. Weeks Jr.

The Opener
UMass rallied from an early 15-2 deficit to comeback to beat UMBC 77-60 on Tuesday evening in the Mullins Center. Trent Buttrick and T.J. Weeks each poured in 16 points and added seven boards to help the Minutemen grab their first lead of the night with 15:50 left in the second half, which they held for the remainder of the game. Noah Fernandes scored 12 and dished out four assists while Rich Kelly recorded a game-high six assists.

UMass, Meet Trent
Graduate forward Trent Buttrick scored 13 consecutive points for the Minutemen in the second half on Tuesday to help UMass extend its lead from five to 14 in the span. Buttricck knocked down six of his final seven shot attempts and finished the night 3-of-8 frorm range with 15 of his 16 pints coming in the second half. The forward also added a career-high five steals.

Last Time vs. Yale
Yale won the last meeting between the two teams on Dec. 11, 2019 in the Mullins Center, 83-80 in overtime.

Opening Games In The McCall Era
UMass improved to 5-0 in season openers under head coach Matt McCall on Tuesday as they picked up a 77-60 win over UMBC in the Mullins Center. The Minutemen are 4-0 against America East teams during the span.

High Powered Offense
The Minutemen eclipsed their season average for points per game from 2020-21 with 77 in the win over UMBC on Tuesday. UMass led all Atlantic 10 teams a season ago with 76.7 points per contest.
