Minutemen Announce Signing of Transfer Jordan Clayton

Clayton comes to UMass from Northwestern
AMHERST, Mass. – The Massachusetts men's basketball team has signed Northwestern transfer Jordan Clayton for the 2026-27 season. A Medford, Massachusetts native, Clayton returns to his home state after strong contributions for the Wildcats out of the Big Ten.
"Couldn't be happier to announce Jordan Clayton becoming a member of our program," said head coach Frank Martin. "He is a leader who has a competitive spirit second to none. Jordan was a rotation player for three years at Northwestern with a role that continued to grow. He has played in NCAA Tournament games, so he brings invaluable experience, along with a talent that our team needs."
Most recently in 2025-26, Clayton played in 31 games with 10 starts while averaging 3.9 points and 1.7 rebounds and dishing 42 assists on the season. He averaged 18.2 minutes per game, shooting 41.0 percent from 3-point range (32-of-78). He scored a career-high 20 points against Maryland on Feb. 18, knocking down 6-of-7 from behind the arc. He is known for his tenacious defense as well.
Clayton got into 28 games as a freshman, averaging 7.2 minutes per game. Among those appearances were NCAA Tournament games against Florida Atlantic and UConn.
At Bradford Christian Academy, Clayton was rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports and ranked the No. 3 player in Massachusetts and No. 28 point guard in the nation. As a junior, he averaged 12 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds and was named All-NEPSAC Class AA. Clayton helped the Sentinels reach the championship game. He played AAU ball for Mass Rivals, helping the team to a 15-4 record in the Adidas 3SSSB circuit.
