Minutewomen Fall On The Road At Saint Louis

Megan Olszewski had five saves for the Minutewomen while Chandler Pedolzky attempted a team-high five shots.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team fell to Saint Louis on Sunday afternoon at Hermann Stadium, 2-0. The Minutewomen (7-4-3 Overall, 3-2-1 A-10) return home to Rudd Field for a matchup against Richmond on Thursday at 3 p.m.
The Minutewomen came out on the front foot offensively, firing three shots in the first six minutes of play with Chandler Pedolzky attempting a pair. Pedolzky finished with a team-high five shots on the afternoon.
UMass was outshot 15 to nine by Saint Louis as the Billikens put seven of their attempts on target. The Billikens took the lead in the 14th-minute on a Hannah Friedrich goal from just inside the 18-yard box with a strike that found the top left corner of goal.
Megan Olszewski finished with five saves on the day for the Minutewomen, with all five coming in the first half as Saint Louis attempted 11 of their 15 shots in the first 45 minutes.
The UMass defense held Saint Louis to just four shots in the final 45 minutes of play while attempting four of their own in the final frame. The Billikens got their second goal of the afternoon by way of a Lyndsey Heckel penalty kick in the 74th-minute on a low shot just out of reach of a diving Olszewski.
