UMass begins season at home against Army West Point on Sat., Feb. 13
AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse unveiled its 2021 competitive schedule, which includes six contests at Garber Field, on Friday.
Due to the ever-evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, game dates, times and opponents are subject to change. Any updates to the schedule will be announced on UMassAthletics.com as well as via the official UMass men's lacrosse social media accounts.
In accordance with UMass' COVID-19 protocols, all home games will be closed to spectators this season. The decision was made following consultation with local public health and university officials and in accordance with the Governor's Executive Order prohibiting large capacity venues from opening to the public.
The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) portion of the schedule is a departure from the previous league setup as the CAA adopted an eight-game conference slate that features a round-robin format plus three additional games. This results in Massachusetts playing Fairfield, Drexel and Hofstra on the road and at home, one meeting with Delaware in Newark and one game against Towson in Amherst.
Massachusetts opens the season on Sat., Feb. 13 against Army West Point at Noon and concludes a two-game homestand with UMass Lowell visiting Garber one week later.
Three consecutive road games follow before UMass returns to campus for three consecutive contests at Garber Field. The away games include at Boston University (2/27), at Hofstra (3/6) and at UAlbany (3/9). Massachusetts then spends the later half of March hosting Fairfield (3/15) and Drexel (3/21) in succession, along with one open weekend on March 27-28.
After Massachusetts visits Drexel on April 3, the Maroon and White spend back-to-back Saturdays on Garber Field against Hofstra (4/10) and Towson (4/17). The regular season concludes with road trips to Fairfield (4/24) and Delaware (4/30).
The 2021 CAA Championship will take place at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium. The semifinal round occurs on Thurs., May 6 followed by the championship game on Sat., May 8.
