Tennis Falls To Dartmouth During Second Day Of ECAC Indoor Championships

NEW YORK - University of Massachusetts tennis ended its second day at the ECAC Indoor Championships with a 4-0 loss to Dartmouth at Columbia University's Dick Savitt Tennis Center on Saturday. The Minutewomen fall to 3-4 on the season with the loss while Dartmouth improved to 3-4 with the win.

Dartmouth took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Allison McCann and Jingyi Peng bested Jovana Bogicevic and Ashley Avery 6-1 at No. 2 while Catherine Cable and Chidimma Okpara secured a 6-0 win over Jasmin Tripathy and Sarah Mezini. Anna Napadiy and Martina Bocchi were in the midst of a battles with Nicole Conard and Abigail Chiu at No. 1 when the match was halted with a 3-3 score to move on to singles play.

The Big Green secured their victory with singles wins at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6. Bocchi (No. 2), Bogicevic (No. 4) and Mezini (No. 6) suffered the losses for the Minutewomen.

Masssachusetts concludes its weekend with a third match at the ECAC Indoor Championships on Sun., Feb. 9.
