Minutewomen will host to-be-determined opponent on Tues., March 3
AMHERST, Mass. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced on Thursday night that Massachusetts has clinched a First Round home game for the league's upcoming women's basketball tournament. Scheduled for Tues., March 3 at 7 p.m., the Minutewomen will host a to-be-determined opponent at the Mullins Center.
It marks the first time that Mullins will host a tournament contest since the 1998 A-10 Championship Game.
The conference will release final seedings and First Round matchups on Sat., Feb. 29 at the conclusion of the last regular season game.
Tickets for Tuesday's First Round game are entirely general admission and cost $10. To purchase, visit UMass Athletics Ticket Central by clicking here. Alternatively, fans can visit the Mullins Center Box Office or speak with a representative at (866) UMASS-TIX.
The Minutewomen are in the midst of their most successful season in recent memory, entering Saturday's regular season finale vs. Rhode Island with an 18-10 record (8-7 A-10). The most victories in a season since 1997-98, UMass accomplished the feat in part thanks to an 11-game winning streak which was a program-record and ranked as high as third-longest in the country among active runs.
Winners of the First Round games will advance to the Quarterfinal Round on Fri., March 6 at UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio. First Round matchups will match up the No. 3 seed vs. No. 14, No. 4 vs. No. 13, and so on continuing to No. 8 vs. No. 9. Dayton and VCU have clinched the No. 1 and 2 seeds in the tournament field, respectively, and the Flyers and Rams will receive automatic byes to the Quarterfinals.
