Women’s Track & Field Sets Five New All-Time Marks At Black And Gold Challenge

Deveau and Notarfrancesco highlighted day two’s action with new 400m hurdles and shot put records.

ORLANDO, Fla. – University of Massachusetts women's track and field closed out day two of the Black And Gold Challenge at UCF with five new top-five all-time marks, including program records in 400m hurdles and shot put.
 
Senior Bridget Deveau ran 1 minute, 0.16 seconds to the runner-up spot in 400 meter hurdles, breaking Silifa Kenku's previous UMass record (1:00.56), set in 1998.
 
In shot put, sophomore Danielle Notarfrancesco improved upon her program record with a third-place toss of 49 feet, 3 inches. Classmate Lauren LaDere also set a PR, which bettered her No. 5 all-time UMass mark, throwing 46 feet, 4.75 inches, good for seventh at the meet.
 
Junior Jada Harris improved her PR in 100 meter hurdles to 13.84 seconds, taking third in the meet with the time that stands second in program history. Harris also captured second in high jump at 5 feet, 6 inches.
 
The Minutewomen's 4x100 meter relay team of Harris, Lindsay Witt, Abby Collins and India Johnson finished sixth with the fifth-fastest time in program history, 47.35 seconds.
 
UMass landed five runners in the top-six in the 800 meter run, led by sophomore Bryanna Rivers with the winning time of 2 minutes, 15.52 seconds. Sophomore Colette O'Leary followed in second (2:17.26), while freshmen Grace Pettengill (2:17.48), Alexina Hurley (2:17.74) and Samantha Schwers (2:18.11) were fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.

The Minutewomen will return to action next Saturday, March 30, when the squad will travel to Smithfield, Rhode Island for Bryant's Black and Gold Invitational.
