Men’s Cross Country Lands 23rd at NCAA Northeast Regional

Bathgate paces UMass in 114th overall in a field of 268 runners.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – University of Massachusetts men's cross country closed out the 2019 Season on Friday afternoon at the NCAA Northeast Regional at the University at Buffalo, placing 23rd out of 37 schools with 634 points in the team scoring. Harvard won the meet with 59 points followed by Syracuse (86) and Iona (96).
Senior Dawson Bathgate was the top finisher for the Minutemen in 114th overall, completing the 10K road course in 30 minutes, 52.9 seconds. Classmate Erik Engstrom was second for UMass and 125th overall in a field of 268 competitors with a time of 31 minutes, 0.7 seconds.
Nathan Johnson was the third runner across for the Minutemen in 129th overall, clocking in at 31 minutes, 3.4 seconds, while Jack Adamski was on his heels in 131st with a time of 31 minutes, 5.2 seconds.
Freshman Benjamin Burgess rounded out the UMass top-five in 147th overall, crossing the finish in 31 minutes, 20.3 seconds.
The Minutemen will be idle until the start of the indoor track and field season, which begins on December 7 with the Alden Invitational in Providence, Rhode Island.
