Home Opener
The Minutemen picked up a 191-101 win over NJIT in the home opener last Saturday in the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool behind four event sweeps and 12 event wins. UMass opened up its day by claiming the top-three spots in the 200 Medley Relay before Seamus Trzewik-Quinn lead a sweep of the 100 Backstroke with Michael Tartakovsky and Sanjay Sekar rounding out the top-three. Emerson Kiefer led a sweep in the 500 Free followed by Jamie MacDonald and Dias Konysbayev in second and third. Ryan Pedrick paced the Minutemen in the 50 Free with a swim of 21.51 to take first while freshmen Charles Rothenberger and Ethan Davey finished in second and third respectively.

Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week
Kiefer's efforts in the pool against NJIT were enough to earn the freshman Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors. The Wayland, Mass. native clocked in a top time of 9:52.84 to win the 1000 Freestyle before going on to lead a UMass sweep in the 500 Free with a swim of 4:42.04.

Series History
The Minutemen lead the all-time series against the Terriers 35-9-1 with the first meeting between the two programs coming in 1938. BU took the last meeting in Boston a season ago 189-111 while the Minutemen came out on top at home in 2017 with a 154-144 win over the Terriers to cap off a stretch of three consecutive UMass wins.
