The senior goalkeeper recorded a pair of shutouts last week with seven saves.

AMHERST, Mass. - Senior goalkeeper Peyton Ryan of the University of Massachusetts women's soccer team earned her second straight Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honors as the Minutewomen picked up a pair of shutout wins in conference play last week.

Ryan (Marietta, Ga.) anchored a superb defensive effort by UMass as the Minutewomen picked up a pair of wins to start the A-10 schedule with a 2-0 victory over Duquesne and a 1-0 decision at Rhode Island. The senior keeper pitched a pair of shutouts in 180 total minutes while being forced to make a total of seven saves on 14 shots faced. Ryan also helped the defense turn away nine total corner attempts including six against Duquesne. The senior helped organize her defense to keep dangerous situations minimal while also making smart plays to come off her line to clear out long crosses and passes. The shutouts marked her second and third solo clean sheets of the season while dropping her goals-against-average to 0.49 on the year.

UMass will be back in action for a pair of games this week as they are set to host St. Bonaventure on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. before traveling to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on La Salle on Sunday.
