BOSTON  – University of Massachusetts men's track and field junior Jonathan Collins sits in sixth in the heptathlon scoring at the IC4A Championships after day one, which opened on Friday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. Collins has 2,795 through four events and sits 156 points out of first.

Collins raced to sixth in 60 meter dash with a time of 7.27 seconds to open the meet with 789 points. He landed seventh in long jump at 21 feet, 5.25 inches (704 points) and followed up with his best showing of the day, fourth, in shot put with a toss of 42 feet, 7 inches (666 points). To close the day's action, Collins was 11th in high jump at 5 feet, 11.25 inches for 636 points.
