Massachusetts opens the Walt Bell Era at HighPoint.com Stadium one day early
AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts will begin the Walt Bell Era one day earlier than previously scheduled as UMass football and Rutgers agreed to move forward the 2019 season-opener for both squads at HighPoint.com Stadium to Fri., Aug. 30. More information on kickoff and television coverage of the contest will be available at a later date.
University of Massachusetts Athletics welcomed Walt Bell with his head coaching announcement on Mon., Dec. 3. Bell joined the football program following five seasons as an offensive coordinator at three schools: Arkansas State (2014-15), Maryland (2016-17) and Florida State (2018). He holds 12 years of coaching experience at the FBS level and coached in nine bowl games overall. More information on Bell's hiring is available here.
UMass Athletics will be deploying a host of fan experiential and season ticket-related programs geared toward welcoming Bell and looking forward to the 2019 season shortly. These will include opportunities to win UMass football prizes such as authentic sideline apparel and autographed memorabilia, with more rewards to come.
