The $500,000 gift will help fund new videoboard as part of stadium enhancement project.

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Department of Athletics is excited to announce a $500,000 donation by Paul '87 and David Manganaro in support of the McGuirk Alumni Stadium improvements.  Specially, the Manganaro's gift will back the funding of a new videoboard at the football stadium with the new high-definition structure named in the family's honor.

"My brother and I felt it was important to continue the momentum of Marty Jacobson's gift this summer and we encourage others to step-up at this important time for UMass football," said Paul. "David and I believe that these improvements will have a meaningful impact on the football program and will enhance the game day experience for all UMass football fans"

David, a graduate of Providence College, echoed his brother's sentiments, "I strongly believe in this football program, and the positive impact it can have on the institution and the entire Commonwealth.  Paul and I committed to making another gift because we trust the time is now to invest. We wanted to make a significant contribution to show our faith in this University and the football program."

Paul, a former linebacker for the Minutemen, is currently the President of the Gridiron Club – a volunteer fundraising board that raises resources and engages constituents to benefit the football program.  He was member of two Yankee Conference championship teams (1982, 1986) and served as a team captain during his senior year.

"Paul and David continue to be great philanthropic leaders for UMass and our Athletics department," said Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford.  "They supported the construction of the Marty Jacobson Football Performance Center five years ago and have committed to increasing their charitable involvement to help us build the infrastructure for a top-tier FBS program.  I sincerely thank them for their remarkable generosity and belief in our program."

Construction on McGuirk Stadium is slated to begin early next year with several improvements completed by the 2019 football season, including the new videoboard.  More information – including project images and final timeline – will be shared in early 2019.
