Senior receiver ranks among top-5 nationally in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - University of Massachusetts football senior wide receiver Andy Isabella earned selection as a 2018 Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist, as announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation on Monday. Isabella ranks among the nation's leaders in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns, while his 2018 season stands alongside the most successful at UMass in all three categories as well.

The Biletnikoff Award recognizes the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver at any position. All positions on the field allowed to receive a pass and are eligible for the Biletnikff Award, including tight ends, slot receivers and backs, inside receivers, wide receivers, split ends and running backs.

Isabella owns 87 receptions, 1,479 receiving yards and 11 touchdown receptions through 11 games of the 2018 season. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound pass-catcher from Mayfield, Ohio, ranks second in FBS for receptions and receiving yards per game, and is tied for fourth overall in total touchdown catches. All three totals rank as the most in a season in Isabella's career. They also stand as the second-most receiving yards, third-most receptions and fourth-most touchdowns in one year in team history.

An constant presence in the UMass pass game under head coach Mark Whipple, Isabella sports a 35-game streak with two or more receptions, the second-longest in the nation. In that span, he has three or more receptions in 34 of those 35 games, and 100 or more receiving yards in 12 contests.

Isabella is one of 11 receivers from around the nation chosen for the semifinalist list. He is the second-ever semifinalist from the UMass program, joining four-year letterman and current Tennessee Titan Tajae Sharpe (2015).

The 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on Dec. 6, 2018, on The Home Depot College Football Awards presented by Gildan to be broadcast at 7 p.m. on ESPN. College and pro football hall of famer Fred Biletnikoff will announce the 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner on the show.
