Batting Practice
- The Massachusetts baseball team (6-13) continues its non-conference slate on Tuesday with a trip to Troy, New York to take on Siena at RPI at 3 p.m. UMass will then head to to Cambridge, Mass. to face Harvard at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in a Beanpot Championship first round matchup.
- This is the 30th meeting between UMass and Siena. UMass currently leads the series 16-13. The two teams last meet on April 7, 2015. The Minutemen shocked the Saints with a come from behind win, scoring five runs in the eighth inning to win the game 6-5.
-  UMass holds a 19-32 all-time record against Harvard, but have taken 10 of the 15 Beanpot matchups between the two teams. Earlier this season, the Minutemen took on the Crimson in Florida, which saw Harvard collect an 8-2 victory.

Recap in a Minute
- UMass is coming off of a weekend series at Morehead State. The Minutemen lost a heartbreaking game in the series opener, after taking a 6-2 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning. The Eagles came out swinging and scored five runs to earn a 7-6 walk off win. Game two of the series went into extra innings after Morehead State scored a handful of late runs. The Eagles went on to win by a score of 6-5. Sunday ended the weekend series, but UMass struggled on both sides of the ball as Morehead State had an offensive display en route to a 22-0 victory.
 
Scouting Siena
- Siena (9-13-1, 2-1 MAAC) meets Massachusetts after a weekend series at Manhattan in Fishkill, New York. The Saints took wins in the first two games of the series by scores of 2-1 and 12-1, respectively. Game three went to the Jaspers 5-4.
- Sophomore infielder Brian Kelly enters the series with a team-leading .364 batting average. The Demarest, New Jersey, product has been a huge offensive asset for Siena, clubbing one home run, three doubles, and 24 hits thus far, tallying 10 RBI. Senior outfielder Dan Swain has a team best six home runs and 19 RBI.
- On the mound, freshman RHP Brendan White (3-3) has lead the team in the starting position. He currently posts a 4.62 ERA over 37.0 innings pitched, with 19 strikeouts.
- Danny Hobbs and Dylan D'Anna have successfully split the closing role this season. Hobbs holds a 0.90 ERA with a pair of saves, while D'Anna has a 2.18 ERA with four saves.
- The head coach for the Saints is Tony Rossi, who is in his 48th season at the helm of the program. In his time, he has led Siena to five league titles and twice to NCAA appearances. He has been on the bench for every UMass-Siena game since they first played each other in 1978.
- All time, UMass is 16-13 against Siena while the last win against the Saints came in 2015.
 
Scouting Harvard
- Harvard (10-12, 0-4 Ivy League) meets Massachusetts after back-to-back away weekend doubleheaders at Columbia and Pennsylvania. The Crimson struggled in all four conference contests losing 2-0 and 5-1 at Columbia and 4-0 and 7-4 at Penn.
- Sophomore outfielder Patrick Robinson enters the series with an impressive team-leading .406 batting average. The Melbourne, Florida, product has lead the Crimson offense this season contributing two home runs, two triples, eight doubles, and 26 hits thus far, tallying 16 RBI. Matt Rothenberg and Patrick McColl are also batting above the .300 mark with .354 and .346 averages, respectively.
- Ian Miller (1-3) has impressed from his starting position freshman posting a 2.92 ERA over 37.0 innings pitched, with a team leading 27 strikeouts.
- The head coach for the Crimson is Bill Decker, who is in his 5th season at the helm of the program. Coming off the program's most successful season since 2010, Decker led the 2016 Harvard squad to a 17-24 overall record, including a 9-11 mark in Ivy League play, with an impressive win over Wake Forest. Decker also led Harvard to a 2014 Beanpot Championship title.
- All time, UMass is 19-32 against Harvard and 10-5 in Beanpot competition.

UMass In The Beanpot
- UMass holds a 21-20 overall record in the Beanpot since first playing in the tournament in 1996. The Minutemen are 10-5 against Harvard in the Beanpot and the teams have met for the title twice in the past five years with UMass winning the Beanpot Championship in 2012 and the Crimson claiming the crown in 2014 with a 3-0 shutout of the Minutemen.
- Last season UMass faced Harvard in a Beanpot Consolation game in Northborough, Massachusetts on April 20. The Minutemen went on to win the game by a score of 6-2. The game featured a home run from John Jennings and a pair of doubles from Mike Geannelis.
 
Set in `Stone'
- The winningest head coach in team history, UMass skipper Mike Stone embarks on his 30th season directing the Minutemen baseball program. In the summer of 2016, Stone announced that he would retire from coaching following the 2017 season. During his career in Amherst, Stone has helped UMass to 688 victories with eight Atlantic 10 regular season championships, along with two A-10 postseason titles and two trips to the NCAA Tournament. Nearly 40 of his former players have gone on to play professional baseball.
 
Nine is Fine
- Throughout the 2017 season, the Minutemen will play in nine different states: North Carolina, Florida, Massachusetts, Virginia, Kentucky, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and New York. After facing Siena in New York, the Minutemen have played in six of these states so far.
 
On Deck
- After the Minutemen play mid-week contests against Siena in Troy, New York on the campus of RPI (Tues. 3 p.m.) and Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts in a Beanpot first round matchup (Wed. 3 p.m.). UMass will then return home to take on A-10 foe VCU in a three-game series next weekend (Friday, 3 p.m./ Saturday 1 p.m./ Sunday 12 p.m.). Tuesday April 11th, UMass heads down to Connecticut to take on Central Connecticut at 3 p.m., before returning to Amherst to face UMass Lowell on Wednesday April 12th at 3 p.m.
