Tennis Heads to Charleston for Spring Break Matches

AMHERST, Mass. – A trio of matches in Charleston, S.C., are on tap this week as the UMass tennis team heads south for spring break. The Minutewomen will take on the College of Charleston on Tuesday followed by Samford on Thursday and Atlantic 10 foe Davidson on Friday.

UMass enters the week with a 5-5 record after dropping its last two contests at Yale and No. 23 Dartmouth. The trip continues an eight-match road stretch for the Minutewomen who will next travel to St. John's on March 31.

The Minutewomen are led by a trio of players who have reached double-figure wins this season. Brittany Collens leads all players with a 15-6 record, while Janja Kovacevic is 10-6 and Ana Yrazusta is 10-7. Yrazusta has played well in singles this spring with a 7-3 record in dual matches.

In doubles, Yrazusta and Kovacevic are tied with Ruth Crawford and Anna Woosley as each pair boasts 11-6 records this year. Yrazusta and Kovacevic are 8-2 in dual matches.
