Plourde Earns Invite To Canadian Softball Selection Camp

Sara Plourde (2009-12) will participate as one of 30 players competing for a spot on the 2018 Canadian National Team.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts softball alumnus Sara Plourde was selected as one of 30 players to compete for a spot on the Canadian Women's National Softball Team 2018 roster as announced on Friday. Plourde (2009-12) was a four-year letterwinner for the Minutewomen, posting a 1.47 career ERA with a 109-35 record to go along with a program-record 1,662 strikeouts.
Plourde ranks atop the UMass record books in career strikeouts per seven innings with 11.96 strikeouts while ranking second in wins, appearances, games started and innings pitched. The Baker Lake, New Brunswick native tossed almost 1,000 career innings, finishing her four years at UMass with 965.2 innings pitched. In addition to her career records, Plourde owns the top two spots for victories in a season, picking up a program-record 40 wins in 2010 in a season where she posted a 40-8 mark in the circle.
Plourde helped UMass to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009, 2010 and 2012 as the Minutewomen picked up three Atlantic 10 Championships during the span with a 150-52-1 team record over the four years.
The Canadian Women's National Softball Team's Selection Camp will be held on Jan. 3-9 in Fort Myers, Fla. while the WBSC Women's Softball World Championship will take place on Aug. 2-12 in Chiba, Japan.
