Rowing Competes at Head of the Fish Regatta

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Aiste Balciunaite raced a time of 14:14.90 in the Women's 1x to in part highlight Saturday's Head of the Fish Regatta for University of Massachusetts rowing. Balciunaite won the event by almost nine seconds to continue a strong track record of 1x performances this Fall.
UMass began the day with an appearance by head coach Jim Dietz in the Men's Veteran 1x. Dietz placed second (11:59.64).
Elsewhere on the water, the 2x boat of Daniella du Toit and Grace Bundy was second (13:27.45) behind Ithaca. UMass received other second place efforts in the 4x (Balciunaite, du Toit, Caleigh O'Neil, Bundy; 14:51.16) as well as the 2v8+ (12:40.84). That boat was made up of Kelsey Anderson (Cox), Abigail Belozerova, Kelley Glennon, Charlotte Bleiler, Rebecca Mills, Danielle Hutcheson, Isabelle Wigon, Riley Anderson and Emma Fiore.
The V8+ boat of Anne Madeiros (Cox), Aiste Balciunaite, Zoe Hill, Hannah White, Daniella du Toit, Mia Hancock, Meghan Ouellette, Caroline Gosnear and Grace Bundy placed fourth (12:22.05).
In Novice 8 action, the Minutewomen were led by the A boat of Kylie Condosta (Cox), Nicole Merian, Isabel Grant, Melissa Dexter, Olivia Kelley, Anna MacManus, Mikaela Hammond-Holland, Anna Pineda and Caleigh O'Neil. That group finished third (14:15.11).
UMass wrapped up the day with three boats in the Collegiate 4+, with Anne Madeiros (Cox), Zoe Hill, Hannah White, Meghan Ouellette, Mia Hancock helping the Maroon and White earn a fourth place finish (14:22.31).
Massachusetts closes the Fall schedule on Sun., Nov. 5 at Dartmouth's Green Monster Regatta in Hanover, New Hampshire.
