Rowing Sets Sights On A-10 Championship

The 2025 championship will take place on Saturday, May 17

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts rowing team will head to the Cooper River in Pennsauken, New Jersey for Saturday's 2025 Atlantic 10 Rowing Championship (May 17).  

The 2025 championship will open with preliminary races at 8 a.m., followed by finals at 11 a.m.  

Massachusetts will be looking to earn the conference title for the first time since 2017. All told, Massachusetts has captured 16 Atlantic 10 Championships dating back to 1996. Last season, UMass placed second led by the Varsity 4 taking gold in the Grand Final. 

Five boats will head to this weekend's event, with the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 comprising the scoring boats for championship purposes.

Season Summary 

  • Massachusetts opened the season by sending three boats to the Sarasota 2K on March 28-29. In the Petite Finals, UMass placed fifth in the Varsity Four (7:46.37) and sixth in both the Second Varsity 8 (7:12.10) and Varsity 8 (6:49.82).  
  • The squad then took part in the Saint Joseph's Invitational at Overpeck Park on April 5. The Varsity 4 consisting of Amanda Scally, Felicity Pye, Gretta Anderson, Annika Wisdom and Bella Ross led the way by winning its afternoon final (8:03.376). 
  • On April 12-13 at the 2025 Knecht Cup on the Cooper River, the Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 both placed eighth, the Varsity 4 finishing 10th and the Second Varsity 4 grabbed second. 
  • The team competed in the Ford Cup Regatta/MAC Invitational on April 26, with the Varsity 8 and the Varsity 4 placing second and the Second Varsity 8 finishing fifth. 
  • Massachusetts closed out the regular season at Eastern Sprints, which took place on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 4. The Varsity 4 placed fourth in the petite final to lead UMass. The Second Varsity 4, which placed third in its petite final, and the Third Varsity 8, which placed fourth in its petite final, also had strong days for Massachusetts.  

Next Up 
The winner of the Atlantic 10 Championship will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, which will take place at Lake Mercer on May 30 - June 1 in West Windsor, New Jersey.
