Rowing Claims Varsity 4 Race At St. Joe's Invitational
April 05, 2025 | Rowing
The team took part in its second event of the season
LEONIA, N.J. - Massachusetts rowing's season continued at the Saint Joseph's Invitational at Overpeck Park on Saturday, with the Varsity 4 leading the way by winning its afternoon final (8:03.376).Â
Massachusetts took part in its second event of the season, racing against Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's, George Washington, Boston College, Bucknell, Marist and UConn in Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8, Varsity 4 and Second Varsity 4 races.
"With racing now complete on Overpeck, we have six weeks of training until the A-10 Championships," head coach Eric Carcich said. "It was good to have five of our six crews competing as a unit against the top of the A-10 alongside four other crews from various conferences. The journey to the championship isn't linear as each of the five crews capitalized on things they are doing well while noting areas of opportunity. We feel we progressed from where we were last year at this point in the season but we still have much work to do before May 17th. Can't wait for Monday."
The Massachusetts Second Varsity 8 also won its afternoon race (7:27.615), besting Marist, UConn and Saint Joseph's. George Washington's Varsity 8 boat collided with the UMass Varsity 8, which did not finish its afternoon race.Â
