HADLEY, Mass. – University of Massachusetts rowing hosted the inaugural Hadley Chase Regatta on Saturday along the Connecticut River. With weather conditions making for a beautiful day of competition, races were contested before large crowds viewing from the UMass Rowing Boathouse as well as the Norwottuck Rail Trail Bridge.

UMass picked up two impressive wins to begin the day's action. The Minutewomen claimed the Women's 1x by over 18 seconds thanks to Aiste Balciunaite (21:23.1) and shortly thereafter grabbed another victory, this time in the Women's 2x. With a time of 20:03.4, the boat of Daniella du Toit and Grace Bundy out-rowed the other 12 finishers and earned a clear victory.

Emma Fiore, Jamie McMahon and Charlotte Bleiler posted a time of 22:07.6 in the Women's 3x, topping Tufts.

Massachusetts raced three crews in the 4+, with the top boat taking second (19:33.6) behind a challenging Dartmouth squad (19:26.6). The Minutewomen had other entries cross the finish line in fifth (20:06.8) and sixth (20:32.6) place.

UMass claimed one final victory in the Women's 4x, taking the event in 18:52.3. In the Varsity 8+ the Maroon and White saw their top boat claim sixth (18:44.6), with two additional boats finishing 12th (19:40.9) and 17th (21:09.9).

Next on the docket for the Minutewomen is the Head of the Charles Regatta, scheduled for Oct. 21-22 in Boston.
