Tennis Opens Spring Semester Against Quinnipiac

Minutewomen host Bobcats on Saturday afternoon at Bay Road Tennis Club.
AMHERST, Mass. - The spring semester gets underway for the UMass tennis team as the Minutewomen host Quinnipiac on Saturday afternoon (12:30 p.m.) at the Bay Road Tennis Center. UMass is coming off a fall campaign where the Minutewomen had a 1-0 dual match record combined with three strong performances in invitational play.
Following this week's return to action, the Minutewomen will have the bulk of next week off before travelling to Brown on Friday, Feb. 3 and then returning to Bay Road on Sunday, Feb. 5 to host Fairleigh Dickinson.
Coming out of the fall, Brittany Collens led UMass with a 10-2 record in singles play followed by Janja Kovacevic and Anna Woosley who each had 6-2 records. Woosley continues to lead the team in career wins with a 55-25 overall record.Â
In doubles play, the duo of Ruth Crawford and Woosley posted a 7-2 record while Collens and Ashley Avery went 5-1 during the fall.
As a team, the Minutewomen won 19-of-28 doubles matches which should once again be a strength for UMass in the spring.
Quinnipiac posted a 3-1 record in the fall with wins over Sacred Heart, Rider and Saint Peter's. It's lone dual match loss came to Connecticut.
