Tennis Picks Up 6-1 Win Over Quinnipiac

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule with a 6-1 win over Quinnipiac at the Bay Road Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Minutewomen improve to 2-0 on the year and will head to Brown next Friday, Feb. 3 before then returning home on Sunday to host Fairleigh Dickinson.

UMass started Saturday's match-up with the Bobcats by taking the doubles point thanks to wins from Ana Yrazusta and Janja Kovacevic at No. 2 play and Brittany Collens and Ashley Avery at No. 3 play.

The Minutewomen won five of six matches in singles play with Crawford, Kovacevic, Yrazusta, Woosley and Collens all securing wins. Crawford won by a second-set retirement, while all other matches were straight sets.
