Minutewomen and Explorers set for Noon tip-off for Field Trip Day.

AMHERST, Mass. - Looking to bounce back after a heartbreaking double-overtime loss to league-leader George Washington, the UMass women's basketball team hits the road for a pair of games this week starting on Wednesday at La Salle. Wednesday's match-up with the Explorers will tip at Noon as La Salle's Field Trip Day at Gola Arena. The game will be streamed online for free on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network and broadcast locally on 91.1 FM WMUA.

UMass took George Washington to the wire last Saturday with the Colonials able to outlast the Minutewomen 60-54 in double-overtime. A big third quarter run gave UMass a 15-point lead, but the Colonials held the Minutewomen scoreless in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Alyx Stiff scored a team-high 18 points in the loss, while Hailey Leidel posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Leidel continues to lead UMass in scoring this season with 16.6 points per game while also averaging 5.4 rebounds. Maggie Mulligan is second in scoring with 13.7 points a night while also hauling down 11.6 rebounds per game. Alyx Stiff (10.7 points) and Ryan Holder (10.2 points) round out UMass' top scoring leaders with Stiff having averaged 16 points over the last three games.

In the Atlantic 10, UMass is currently in a three-way tie for 10th in the standings (alongside Duquesne and St. Bonaventure), while the Explorers (11-8, 4-3 A-10) are fifth overall.

Leidel continues to lead all A-10 rookies in scoring and is third overall. She leads the league in three-pointers made (58) which is the sixth-most in a single-season at UMass. The freshman also ranks fourth in the league in steals. Mulligan ranks 11th overall in scoring, is second in rebounds per game, and ranks third in blocked shots (1.9). Leah McDerment rounds out the league leaders for the Minutewomen ranking third in assists with 5.3 per game.

Nationally, Mulligan continues to rank second nationally in double-doubles with 15 - just two behind Washington's Chantel Osahor. Her 11.6 rebounds per game ranks fourth overall in the NCAA. Leidel also remains the countries No. 2 rookie scorer just behind UNC Greensboro's Nadine Soliman who is 0.1 point ahead. Her 58 three-pointers made are tied for 22nd nationally.

La Salle enters the game after winning a pair of games on the road with wins at Richmond and at Davidson. Amy Griffin leads the Explorers averaging 20.2 points followed by Adreana Miller who averages 10.5 points a night. Jasmine Alston is posting all-around strong numbers for La Salle with 8.4 points. 7.2 assists and a team-best 9.1 rebounds per game.

Following Wednesday's game in Philly, the Minutewomen will next play on the road at VCU in Richmond, Va., on Saturday, Jan. 28. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m., with the game streamed live on the A-10 Digital Network and available locally on 91.1 FM WMUA.
