Tennis Concludes Fall Schedule After Day Three of ITA Regionals

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The fall schedule came to a close on Saturday as the UMass tennis team concluded competition at the ITA Regional Championships hosted by Yale. The Minutewomen saw Brittany Collens reach the Round of 32 before being knocked out of the tournament. UMass had a program-best five players competing in the singles Main Draw with four reaching the Round of 64 after Friday's wins.

The Minutewomen will have the rest of the semester off before returning to action on Jan. 28 in a dual match with Quinnipiac at the Bay Road Tennis Center.

In Saturday's action, Collens won her round of 64 match against Stony Brook in three sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-4) before falling to fourth-seeded Kana Daniel of Penn in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) in the Round of 32.

Janja Kovacevic and Ruth Crawford also fell in three sets on Saturday. Kovacevic fell 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 against Yale, while Crawford dropped a tightly contested 4-6, 6-6, 4-6 match against Yale.

Ana Yrazusta and Anna Woosley each lost in straight sets to round out the action.
