AMHERST, Mass. - The Massachusetts softball team split a doubleheader with Boston College at Sortino Field Tuesday.

UMass (15-24) scored two runs in the seventh for a 8-7 walk-off win in the first game before Boston College (23-22) took advantage of some poor pitching for a 16-0 win in the nightcap.

Sophomore Ashton Wince and junior Taylor Carbone each finished with four hits, and senior Quianna Diaz-Patterson drew three walks, had a single and reached on an error.

UMass will play a single game at Connecticut on Thursday. First pitch at Burrill Family Field in Storrs is set for 4 p.m. and the game will be broadcast online at UMassAthletics.com.

Game One

UMass scored two runs on bases loaded walks to claim a 8-7 come-from-behind walk-off win in the first contest. The win snapped a three-game losing streak.

Both teams had eight hits and three extra-base hits in the game.

Carbone led the UMass attack with three hits and two doubles, while Bridget Lemire had a second inning grand slam.

UMass wasted little time taking a lead in the first inning as Diaz-Patterson scored on a passed ball before Lindsey Zenk came home from second on Carbone's first two-bagger of the game.

In the second, BC's Chloe Dubocq entered with just two hits on the season but gave the Eagles a 4-2 lead with a grand slam to left center that bounced off the padding on top of the outfield wall.

Lemire matched Dubocq with a grand slam of her own in the bottom half of the inning, putting the Minutewomen ahead 6-4. It was the senior's team- and Atlantic 10 leading 11th homer of the season and second grand slam.

BC scored an unearned run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to claim a 7-6 lead, before UMass mounted its comeback two innings later.

Caroline Raymond (11-14) struck out four and walked four as she won her third-consecutive home start.

Game Two

BC scored four in the first and eight in the third before finishing with 11 hits in a 16-0 win. Tatiana Cortez was 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and three runs.

BC jumped out to a 4-0 lead after a half inning, loading the bases on three walks before getting a 2-run double from Chloe Sharabba, a Jordan Chimento RBI single up the middle and an RBI groundout by Taylor Coroneos.

The Eagles batted around in the third and scored eight runs to extend the lead to 12-0. The big hit came on Cortez's 3-run home run to center.

Meg Colleran (3-10) struck out one but walked five while allowing eight runs on 10 hits over 4.2 innings. Colleran and reliever Emma Medoker walked 12 batters.
