FORT MYERS, Fla. - The UMass baseball team dropped both games of its doubleheader at Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, falling 15-1 in game one and 8-1 in game two. Following the pair of losses, the Minutemen sit at 11-19 on the season, while the Eagles improve to 23-19-1.

In game one, FGCU started off by putting up three runs in both the first and second innings on a total of six hits.

Sophomore Mike Geannelis reached on a fielder's choice in the top of the fourth, moved to second on a ground ball and to third on a wild pitch before coming home on an error for UMass' lone run in the contest.

The Eagles then went on to plate two in the bottom half of the inning and scored one in the fifth, three in the sixth and three in the eighth to finish with 15 runs on 23 hits in the contest.

Sophomore Ryan Moloney took the loss (2-4) as he let up nine runs on 12 hits over 4.2 innings with four walks and one strikeout. Mike Murray earned the win (4-5) on the mound for Florida Gulf Coast. He allowed one unearned run on four hits with no walks and six strikeouts over six innings.

In game two, the Minutemen were on the board first with a run in their first turn at bat. Junior Vinny Scifo singled up the middle, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and came home on an RBI single by sophomore Bryce Maher.

However, the Eagles responded with a three-run bottom half and added two more in the second courtesy of an RBI single by Brian Pruett and an RBI double from Tyler Selesky to build a 5-1 lead.

FGCU later tacked on a run in the fifth and two more in the eighth, totaling 12 hits in the contest.

Redshirt freshman Ryan Venditti suffered his first loss (2-1) of the season for UMass. He surrendered six runs on 10 hits over five innings and walked two. Nick Deckert collected the win (2-0) in his start for the Eagles, limiting the Minutemen to one run on four hits and struck out seven.

Junior Vinny Scifo (2-for-7), redshirt senior Kyle Adie (2-for-7) and sophomore Dylan Morris (2-for-8) all logged multiple hits over the two games on the day. Selesky led FGCU's offense, going 8-for-11 at the plate in the doubleheader with four doubles, one triple, six RBI and five runs scored.
