UMass' Walsh Tabbed Atlantic 10 Pitcher Of The Week
April 13, 2015 | Baseball
AMHERST, Mass. - UMass baseball junior right-hander Brandon Walsh has been named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. The honor is the second of Walsh's career as he was first recognized as Pitcher of the Week last May.
Making his first start on the mound of the season this past Sunday, Walsh limited St. Bonaventure to just one hit over seven innings and one run with four walks and a career-high seven strikeouts to earn the win in UMass' series-clinching 5-1 victory over the Bonnies.
Walsh also played two games in the field and one at DH on the week, a 3-1 week for the Minutemen. The North Andover, Mass., native plated the tying run and the winning run in UMass' eighth inning rally in a 6-5 come-from-behind victory at Siena. He also had an RBI and scored a pair of runs in the Minutemen's 9-5 game two victory over St. Bonanventure.
In addition to his A-10 honor, Walsh was also recognized as Co-UMass Athlete of the Week along with teammate redshirt senior Kyle Adie and Ana Yrazusta of the tennis team.
