FULL KNECHT CUP RESULTS

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The Massachusetts rowing team swept the Women's Varsity Pair events and notched a silver and bronze medal in the Women's Single en route to collecting six medals at the Knecht Cup Finals in West Windsor Township, New Jersey on Sunday

In total, UMass had 11 boats compete in their respective Grand Final races, all of which finished in the top five. Additionally, the Minutewomen placed second in the Petite Finals of the Novice 4+ event, finishing two seconds behind first place Alabama.

In UMass' first event of the day, Freshman Carly Zanatta placed second in the Women's single, crossing at 8:51.29, seven seconds behind the first place winner from Marist. Teammate Lauren St. Pierre followed suit, earning a bronze medal with a time of 8:57.37 to give the Minutewomen their first two medals of the day.

Minutes later, UMass swept the podium in the Varsity Pair to tally on three more early medals in the Finals. The `A' boat of Marika Kopp and Pippa Edwards led all rowers with an 8:26.66 time. 13 seconds later,Rachel Boudreau and Nicole Destefano placed second at 8:39.22 while the `C' boat of Maggie Curran and Estefi Marti Malvido finished one second ahead of fourth place Florida Tech with a time of 8:46.06 to round out the UMass scoring this event. 

After taking first in the semi-final heat with a time 7:42.36, the Varsity 4+ took fourth place in the Grand Finale, finishing within one second of both the second place Alabama boat and the third place team from Boston College. The 4+ boat consisted of Abigail Raichek (cox), Natalie Boisvert, Courtney Edson, Hallie Dunlap and Sam Kolovson. Their time was 7:45.62.

The JV8 boat won a silver medal in the Grand Finale at 5:52.19, finishing six seconds behind the University of Central Florida. Earning the silver medal for the JV8 boat was Haley Eovine (cox), Rachel Boudreau, Sam Wonderlin, Katherine Armstrong, Hadley Irvin, Krysten Menks, Zoe Hill, Carly Zanatta, and Grace Bundy.

The Minutewomen wrapped up the event with a fourth place finish in the Varsity 8+, crossing at 6:52.99.
