Rowing Opens Season At Sarasota 2K

The two-day event concluded on Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park.
BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Massachusetts rowing team opened its 2026 season at the Sarasota 2K on Friday and Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park, highlighted by a pair of second-place Petite Final finishes.
In Saturday's Petite Final, the UMass Varsity 4 placed second (8:14.48), trailing only Kansas while beating Boston College, Jacksonville, Tulsa and Kansas State. The Second Varsity 8 finished third in its Petite Final (07:25.74), placing behind Louisville and Boston College while beating Tulsa, Kansas and Michigan State.
The Varsity 8 then closed out the day for UMass with a second-place showing in the Petite Final (07:02.26), finishing just behind Louisville (7:01.17), while besting Tulsa, Boston College, Michigan State and Kansas.Â
Overall, the Varsity 8 placed eighth, while the Second Varsity 8 finished ninth and the Varsity 4 finished eighth.
In Friday's heats, the Varsity 4 (7:49.70) and Second Varsity 8 (6:58.62) each placed third, while the Varsity 8 finished fourth (6:41.72).
