KINGSTON, R.I. - The UMass men's track and field team ended the Atlantic 10 Championship Sunday with several top-eight performances. The Minutemen took sixth as a team with 36 points, while Rhode Island captured the 2015 A-10 title followed by George Mason and Saint Joseph's. Highlights from day two of the meet for UMass included Adam Bonfilio's fourth-place finish in the heptathlon with 4,644 points and Benjamin Groleau's fifth-place showing in the 1 mile.

UMass had enormous success in the heptathlon, finishing three men in top-eight spots. Bonfilio took fourth overall, beating his own UMass second all-time program mark with 4,644 points. Right behind, Nick Ingham placed fifth with 4,603 points. In seventh place, Greg Copeland rounded out the UMass scorers, taking home 4,471 points and setting the fourth all-time UMass program mark.

In the 800 meter run, Michael McNaughton returned for finals after qualifying in the preliminary race Saturday. McNaughton finished seventh overall, finishing at 1 minute, 56.7-seconds. Groleau ran 4 minutes, 17.04-seconds, in the mile, edging out the sixth place runner by a fraction of a second.

Both the Minutemen's 4x800 meter and 4x400 meter relay teams finished in top-eight positions. Alexander Finestone, Stephen Ness, Michael Maldari, and McNaughton ran a combined finish of 7 minutes, 52.53-seconds, good for sixth place. UMass' 4x400 relay team took seventh overall. Peter Farlow, Patrick Farnham, Zachary Blum, and Deion Arneaud together finished in 3 minutes, 25.73-seconds.

In the field, Arneaud took seventh in triple jump, leaping 43 feet, 9.25-inches. Brett Davies finished seventh in shot put, throwing 46 feet, 5.25-inches.

Next up for the Minutemen comes the New England Championships in Boston, Mass. The two-day competition is set to begin Friday, Feb. 27 at 10:00 a.m.
